GET UP QUICK

Success is determined not by how few times you get knocked down, but by how quickly you get back up. In fact, those who achieve the most are those who have the most setbacks. You must make the attempt in order to achieve, and not every attempt is going to yield the intended results. Not by a long shot.

The setbacks are going to come. No matter what you're working to achieve, there will be obstacles popping up to block your path. There will be disappointments big and small, on a regular basis.

But you never have to let them get the best of you. Though you won't avoid getting knocked down, you can choose how quickly to get back up. So make the smart choice. Get up quick. Get going again. Get the disappointment behind you, where it belongs.

Wallowing in anger, resentment, self-pity and despair will only put you further behind. That's not what you want. Let all that negativity go. Remind yourself of your purpose. Remind yourself of how much you want it, and why.

Get back up. Get back in the game. Get over it. Get going. And do it now. The faster you recover, the more successful you'll be.

Thank you for writing that post. You are absolutely correct, we all have setbacks and sometimes things don’t go, no, correct that, ALOT of the time things don’t go how you planned or maybe even how you wanted or expected. But from those moments you can begin to learn exactly what kind of person you are and get back up and keep going. It is only when you stop in the midst of a personal struggle and let it overcome you that you can lose sight of the goal. The longer you stay in that moment the harder it can become to move forward, so push thru, keep going, and yea you can make it! Very inspirational, thanks again for the post!

  5. TChell says:

Succes is not measured on success itself. It also includes how you chose to overcome a failure. In order to succeed you fail, so that you know what not to do the next time. Success only comes before work in the dictionary. So anything that brings forth success, must be worked for. It takes nights bear an overnight success. Success is a journey, not a destination. Success is being prepared when the opportunity presents itself.

That’s what I call words of incouragement! What don’t kill ya makes you stronger unless it keeps you down. That’s what we call handicaped. So unless your handicaped don’t expect me to feel sorry for you. Most people I seen who are severly handicaped didn’t want any special treatment. Nobody is gonna give you anything you have to take it. You better get up, get out, and get something! Don’t let the evils take ya Diddy Bop! Lol!

  9. Evelyn says:

So well said, especially “Wallowing in anger, resentment, self-pity and despair will only put you further behind” so true…….Thanks for the heads up.

I totally agree, never let nothing bring you down, might take some time to recover from it. Believing in yourself is key, try as many times as it takes until you succeed, that goes for me also.

I like this. It says everything about me right now. I’ve recently reached over 6 mos. in my road to recovery from alcohol. I have had many moments already where I wanna drink or had things happen that I would have gone out and gotten drunk over. I’ve been strong though. And hung in there. Even though I felt like life has knocked me down. I get up and keep moving forward. Everytime.

  21. The important thing when choosing to get up quick and doing things that make you happy is to NOT compare yourself among others. We are all individuals that have different dreams, goals, definition of happiness, likes and dislikes and overall our own minds that allows each and everyone of us capable of making our own decisions as long as in the end we’re not harming ourselves and others emotionally and physically.

  22. Kevin Semeniuk says:

So dope!..Success truly is how you decide to perceive failure. And failure is only failure when you allow yourself to quit, believing in yourself is all you need to inspire that one person to take a chance on you!…Dreaming is not designated to a select group, it is only a select group that decides to never give up until their dreams are their reality!.. Become a part of that select group!!!

    In Session

Imagine if we all stood up
On our very first day of school
When the teacher asked what we wanted to be
We each said “a hopeless fool”
To grow up working hard as can be
At jobs we didn’t really like
Paying lots of bills for things we don’t need
And doing it mostly just out of spite
Being angry a lot for no reason at all
Falling out of love just mostly because
Or maybe it’s because we’re too occupied
With the future or how everything was
Today completely stops being good enough
All of a sudden we need a “reason” to smile
We stop dreaming because there isn’t time anymore
We ignore our hearts and live life on a dial
Going in circles wondering how we got here
Getting depressed about anything we can
Looking for reasons or people to blame
And totally stop being our own biggest fan
The words “fun” and “excitement” become only words
Any good feelings are more of a treat
We make it so it’s just easier to be broken
So it’s less painful when we feel like we’re beat
As children we feed off of hopes and dreams
Then along the way we let others mold us
Somehow we just lose sight of ourselves
Being more content to ride the back of the bus

  29. MsPretty617 says:

Remind yourself of your purpose. Remind yourself of how much you want it, and why.

I think this line is right on point. Sometime in the hustle and bustle of life we forget our purpose, our reason for the long hours and sleepless nights. Its important to always come back to – “What am I doing this for? What is/are my goal(s)?”

In summary, everyone makes mistakes, those who are successful make them fast and move on.

thank you so much for this post! i had read it when you originally posted it… but remembered it today. I just started a job the beginning of september and had my first job review of it today…i thought I was doing fine, i knew I was still getting used to the place and trying to figure it out – but my boss had some issues. I tried hard to not let the tears come, couldn’t resist it in the end. But i went to the bathroom right after to get myself together again – and i told myself “now listen to yourself – you cried. its over now. now GET UP QUICK! and go show that you CAN do this job!”. at the end of the day my boss told me i’d already improved.

so thank you SO much! :)
